This is what makes the gag manga so great. It reaches all of these notes perfectly, without going over the top in any way. For instance, in the Elden Ring manga, one of the main characters is a Wretched named Aseo, who is a Tarnished and would be chosen by either a very experienced player or someone who is just participating in the game for laughs. It would appear that the second possibility is more accurate, given that the individual's intelligence is quite low, even after Melina has added points to the stat.

They are not above stooping to the level of the Tarnished either, even though the way in which they handle their situations gives off the impression of being a more refined or "smarter" version of goofy responses. Their characters, on the other hand, are always portrayed as being extremely refined and darkly elegant, with intelligent and reasonable dialogue. So many times, their responses are precisely what you anticipated they would be based on the circumstances of the game as well as their appearances.
On the other hand, my favourite parts of the manga were the ones in which we got to see one of the series take on a significant happening. I thought that everything was resolved in a very professional manner. Especially considering how well Blaidd and Darriwil are portrayed in the midst of all of this other stuff going on. However, this is not a problem that is exclusive to these characters. Everyone who is mentioned in this first volume is given the same amount of attention and care. Even though the Tarnished is the one who causes the most "laughter" around here, when he isn't talking or doing something stupid, he can still look as refined as anyone else.
When reading the first volume of the Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree manga, you get the impression that you are watching someone play the game without taking it too seriously. This is because the tone of the manga is lighthearted. You'll have a lot of opportunities to watch the Tarnished "die"! You'll think to yourself, "Yeah, I would be suspicious about asking for their help too," as you ponder the nature of the characters and wonder about their backgrounds. You will begin to question the choices that people make in the world as well as their outlook on various matters. While reading, you can sense the author's affection for the material being read, which elevates the overall quality of the experience and makes it more enjoyable.
